All about our project - CECiLiA

Our project is in four stages:

Stage 1. What is happening in England?

A national co-designed survey about C(E)TRs.
Designed together with members of Lived Experience Advisory Panels (LEAPs).
To be filled in by people with learning disabilities and autistic people, including children aged 5 and older, families and carers, Care (Education) and Treatment Review panel members, and health, education, and social care professionals.
Easy access version offered by face-to-face interviews.

Stage 2. What do people say about their experiences?

Finding out what happens at C(E)TR meetings by watching and listening to some meetings.
Asking people who attended the meetings about their experiences.
Including people with learning disabilities and autistic people, and families and carers.

Stage 3. What has helped people and what has hindered them?

Using information the NHS collects already about autistic people and people with a learning disability who are in hospital.
This information does not include any personal details.
Making links between what happens for people, how long it takes, and if/when they leave hospital.

Stage 4. What is the whole story of people having C(E)TRs?

Working out what the best way of doing C(E)TRs is.
Doing this by putting together what we found out in stages 1, 2, and 3.

Listening to people with lived experience

We have partnered with Learning Disability England, the National Autistic Society, and the Challenging Behaviour Foundation who each lead one of our three LEAPs.

People who are members of LEAPs take part in all stages of the research. Members of our three LEAPs include:

• People with learning disabilities
• Autistic people
• Carers and family members.
