Stage 1 information for potential participants

Figure holding up a survey

Stage 1 of this research study is your chance to tell us about your experiences and opinions of the Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews that you have attended in the past year. We would like to hear from:

  • People with learning disabilities
  • Autistic people
  • Families and carers
  • Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews Panel Members
  • Health and social care professionals including paid and unpaid care staff and Experts by Experience.

Taking part will involve you completing an online survey. You can let us know any adaptations that would be useful to you to better meet your communication needs. If you prefer you can complete a structured interview with us. It should take you no more than 30 minutes to complete the survey. You will be helping us better understand what it is like to take part in Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews and how they are carried out in practice. Your responses will then be used in developing good practice guidance for conducting Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews and implementing outcomes.

People with moderate to severe learning disabilities

We would like people with moderate to severe learning disabilities to tell us about their experiences and opinions of the Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews that they have attended in the past year. We know that some may not fully understand what we are asking them to do, which would mean that they may not have capacity to consent to take part. In such circumstances, we look to speak to either a relative or friend of the person or, if that is not possible, somebody who knows them well like a paid carer. This would involve you thinking about the wishes and interests of the person and whether you think they would like to take part or not.

I want to be contacted

I want to be contacted about a person I know with moderate to severe learning disabilities taking part.

I am a parent of an autistic child or a child with learning disabilities
